Ulysses’ first travel journal for kids!
Ulysses Travel Guides has released My Vacation Journal, a delightful travel journal for children 6 to 11. This full-colour, interactive, entertaining diary includes an educational component. Using themes to recall the most important moments of a trip, the journal encourages children to recount daily activities and discoveries through text, drawings, collages and games. It’s actually more of a vacation scrapbook than a journal!
The journal opens with a short explanation of how children can use it and shape it to reflect their personality. There is a packing checklist, so they don’t forget anything, and a section for their itinerary and destination. “My Daily Journal” pages provide space for recording memories and contact information for new friends, drawing memorable scenes from their trip, listing their favourite activities, pasting in souvenirs or favourite photos, writing about their vacation discoveries and putting them into images, such as food they tried for the first time, trees and flowers they saw, or words they learned during the day. The journal also has them record what time they got up and went to bed every day, what the weather was like and how they travelled. The “Review: My Favourite Memories” section encourages them to list the six most important vacation moments, favourite moments, funniest moments, most touching moments, and more. The journal also has an educational and fun geography component. Entertaining games round out the content, to help pass the time during long trips or when it’s raining.
The journal was designed to encourage kids’ creativity within a stimulating framework. Blank pages for gluing and drawing alternate with lined and squared pages for writing, drawing and tracing maps. Small drawings and boxed text add some fun, without overpowering the children’s creations. Girls and boys will enjoy this special travel diary and will have fun looking back at it in a few years when they are older.
