An evening in Gràcia
Once an independent town, Gràcia was annexed to Barcelona in 1897. It is now the city’s smallest district, but one of its most densely populated. With its little square, its Roma community, and its intense cultural life, Gràcia is known for its atmosphere of a village within the city. Among its many theatres, cinemas, and shops selling works by up-and-coming designers, here are some of our picks for the best of Gràcia.
An art gallery: Gràcia Arts Project
Since it opened in 2006, this gallery has exhibited talented artists from numerous countries. The space exhibits painting and sculpture, photography, design, and literary and musical performance. The Gràcia Arts Project association promotes the exchange of information and ideas and artistic collaboration.

A wine cellar: L’Ànima del Vi
L’Ànima del Vi is located in the heart of Gràcia, on a pedestrian street linking Travessera de Gràcia to Plaça de Rius i Taulet. This superb wine cellar is run by a Frenchman who is passionate about natural wines. The brightly coloured boutique will keep you smiling all evening. Mariana Pineda, nº 3 bis

A wine bar: La Viblioteca
This tiny, hidden bar is the perfect place to have a drink in a pleasant environment. Bottles are displayed on shelves over all the walls. Ibérico ham, chorizo, and a dozen different cheeses are served with the wine served by the glass. This modern little wine bar has more than 130 labels from around the world.

Two tapas restaurants:
Tapas 24
This restaurant, located near Plaça Catalunya and Passeig de Gràcia, offers authentic Catalan cuisine. This charming restaurant, the height of Latin ambiance, is often very crowded at lunch and dinner. The chef, who trained at El Bulli, serves creative and delicious tapas; we suggest the calamari à la romaine and the fried eggs with potato and chorizo. The surprising, original menu can’t help but delight your taste buds. Diputació, 269

Bo Restaurant
This tapas bar in the heart of Gràcia is a great base for enjoying this lively neighbourhood. Owners Xavi and Manel use quality ingredients, brought fresh straight from the market, to produce tapas from family recipes. Patrons come with their friends or families, and the terrace is on the loveliest square in Gràcia. A cozy, intimate place, perfect for a stop before a movie at Cinema Verdi.
Plaça de la Vila 11

Cinema Verdi
Located next to the Bo Restaurant, Cinema Verdi plays a great selection of subtitled films. This “confidential” five-screen cinema is connected directly to the Bo Restaurant. A great way to combine a tapas evening with a night at the movies.
Verdi 32 Gràcia
A discotheque: Luz de Gas
Luz de Gas is a historic Belle Époque theatre converted into a glamorous nightclub. The two-storey club welcomes both live concerts and DJs spinning house music. From above, partiers enjoy excellent views of the stage; below is the bar and the dance floor. An original bar frequented by a hip yuppie crowd.
