Pub Desjardins

There are about 40 Uros islands in Lake Titicaca. Uros islands are not real islands, made of earth and stone, but rather are dense tangles of a hardy lacustrine plant known as tortora. The first time you set foot on one of these islands, you'll feel like you are walking on a water bed. Most inhabitants of the Uros Islands are descendants of Uros Indians, about whom little is known aside from a legend that they had black blood. The Uros have died out; their descendants are part Uros and part Aymara.
