Finding your way around

By Plane
From North America, many airlines fly to Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport (www.schiphol.nl), usually with a stop over in Frankfurt, Paris or New York. Taxis, trains and buses provide direct transportation between the airport and the city centre.

The Connexxion Schiphol Hotel Shuttle (tel. 31.38.339.4741) offers daily transport to some 50 Amsterdam hotels.

By Bus
Eurolines buses (www.eurolines.com) travel to Amsterdam from all major European capitals several times daily.

By Train
Most trains headed for the city arrive at Amsterdam Centraal Station, located between the waterfront and the city centre.

By Public Transportation
Although bicycles are the transportation of choice here, trams and metros cover the whole city (GVB, www.gvb.nl). The former are an efficient way to travel within the city centre, while the latter are the preferred mode of transport to the suburbs of Amsterdam.
