Finding your way around
By Plane Lisbon's international airport, Aeroporto da Portela (www.ana-aeroportos.pt), is located about eight kilometres north of downtown.
By Public Transportation The state-owned Carris (www.carris.pt) company's bus (autocarros) lines serve the city of Lisbon and its suburbs.
Trams (eléctricos) make their way up and down the streets of the city on five routes.
Lisbon's elevador (funicular) and three ascensores (elevators) make it possible to travel quickly from one area to another: Elevador de Santa Justa, Ascensor da Glória, Ascensor da Lavra and Ascensor da Bica.
The city's metro system, Metropolitano de Lisboa (www.metrolisboa.pt), is fast and efficient.
