Sanjay Gandhi National Park
Located 50km north of Mumbai in Borivali, this park offers an opportunity to take a day trip in a rural area, far away from the hustle and bustle of the city. It is home to panthers, chital deer, wild boars and many species of butterflies and birds.
Sanjay Gandhi National Park also includes the 109 Kanheri caves, which are carved out of granite rock on the edge of a ravine overlooking the Oman Sea. A monastic Buddhist community was established here for more than 1,000 years. Here, visitors will find over 100 monuments, as well as the caves which have been used as monasteries, sanctuaries, meeting halls and funeral sites over the ages.
This beach if located on the northern tip of Mumbai Bay. It is not particularly recommended as a place to swim: the quality of the water is rather dubious. People come here to enjoy the golden sand and lively atmosphere: small rides, fast food, cotton candy, carnival games, astrologers and other public amusements.
