1980 was the starting point of Ulysses’ odyssey. Throughout the years, more and more travellers have discovered the world, thanks to the various specialized services Ulysses offers.

Ulysses began its adventure as a bookseller and now has two bookstores in Montréal. More than 50,000 travellers seek out and discover the quality documentation and advice of this wisest of explorers every year. Responding to the growing needs of its fellow travellers, Ulysses promptly set a course for new horizons and began importing travel guides and maps from the four corners of the globe, making its selection the best in Canada, in English and French.

The import of books and maps led Ulysses into wholesale distribution, bringing its odyssey into a whole new field. Today, the company counts more than 2,000 customers throughout Canada, each one charting a course for adventure, helped along by the expertise and indispensable products it makes available. Ulysses wholesale catalogue lists more than 3,000 products from 15 countries.

The young Canadian company still needed to complete one final leg of its journey to truly make its mark in the travel guide business. After 10 years of rubbing shoulders with travellers and booksellers, Ulysses headed off on another adventure, creating Ulysses Travel Guides in 1990. The last 20 years have been dedicated to building up Ulysses’ guide collection, which now features 80 titles in English and 150 in French and is the pride of the company.
Going Digital…
In 2009, Ulysses made most of its titles available in PDF format. Also, many individual chapters are now available separately, in PDF format. The digital guides can be bought from the Ulysses web site.
In this era of globalized economy, Ulysses has proven that a young, dynamic and driven enterprise can make its place among the most influential publishers in the world.
