The average temperatures in the temperate subtropical climate of Belize are very pleasant: 26 °C on the coast and 21 °C in the Maya Mountains. The sea breeze significantly affects temperatures, so coastal regions are cooler while temperatures in the interior of the country can sometimes reach 38 °C.
Belize has two seasons; a rainy season from May to November and a dry season from late November to April. Rain is abundant in the southern part of the country: the central and northern parts of Belize receive an annual average of 1,295 millimetres of rain, while the south receives almost four times as much, over 4,445 millimetres. During the rainy season, the daily showers generally last only a few minutes.
